BYU vs. Wyoming Postgame Notes
With 1:53 remaining in the first half, Kevin Feterik connected with Margin Hooks on a 20-yard touchdown pass to Margin Hooks to extend the Cougars' NCAA-record to 310 games without being shutout. The streak dates back to the 1975 season.
Fullback Kalani Sitake will miss the remainder of the season with a broken left ankle. Offensive lineman John Skiba will miss the Utah game with a torn MCL in his knee. His condition will be evaluated further next week when the swelling has decreased.
The Wyoming defense held BYU to just 54 total yards in the first quarter as the Cougars were held scoreless for the second straight week in the opening quarter of play. The Cougars have been shutout four different times during the first quarter throughout the season, including games against Wyoming, San Diego State, Virginia and Washington. The Cougars are 2-2 on the season when failing to score in the first quarter.
BYU was held to just seven points in the first half, marking the least amount of points scored by the Cougars in the first half of any game this season. BYU's previous first-half low was 13 points (vs. San Diego State). The Cougars' 14-7 halftime deficit marks the first time since trailing Utah State that BYU has not held the lead at the half. The Cougars have been outscored on three different occasions this season, including Virginia and Utah State.
With 362 yards passing on the night, BYU quarterback Kevin Feterik moved in to 5th place on the Cougars' all-time passing list. Feterik, who started the night in eighth place, passed Steve Sarkisian (7,464 yds.), Marc Wilson (7,637 yds.) and Steve Young (7,733 yds.) to take over fifth place. Feterik has 7,756 passing yards throughout his career.
Junior receiver Margin Hooks tallied a season-high 143 yards receiving on the night, marking his 5th 100-yard game on the season.
Running back Will Snowden grabbed a Feterik pass for nine yards in the third quarter, marking the 18th different receiver used in the BYU offense this season.
With 3:59 remaining in the third quarter, BYU kicker Owen Pochman connected on a 32-yard field goal, marking his school-record 14th straight field goal. Pochman also nailed his 26th and 27th straight PAT and took over the No. 2 spot on the Cougars all-time scoring list with 241 career points. Jamal Willis now ranks third with 240 points and Kurt Gunther still leads all scorers with 243 points.
