Miller Shines at All-American Tournament
EL PASO, TEXAS--BYU's Andy Miller nearly walked away champion in one of college golf's most prestigious tournaments. Miller finished second to Georgia Tech's Matt Kuchar at the 25th Annual Savane College All-American Golf Classic at El Paso Country Club.
The 1997 U.S. Amateur Champion, Kuchar won on a third-hole playoff against Miller to squeeze out the victory. It was only the second time for a three-hole playoff in the tournament's history. The Savanne College All-American Golf Classic Plays host each year to many of college golfs top names. Past champions of the tournament include Jerry Pate (1974), Scott Simpson (1976), Davis Love III (1984), Billy Mayfair (1986), David Duval (1991), Notah Begay (1994) and Tiger Woods (1995).
Ironically Kuchar and Miller also tied for third in the Ping Putting Contest earlier in the tournament. BYU was also represented in this prestigious tournament by Billy Harvey who placed 20th overall.
