BYU Men Fall to Washington

SEATTLE -- In the first of back-to-back meets against Washington, the BYU men's team fell, 152-108, to its second consecutive loss Friday night.

The Cougars lost last weekend to UNLV in Las Vegas and likewise could not come up with a win against the Huskies. Washington beat the men's team for the first time since 1994 with the win.

Junior All-American Arunas Savickas led BYU with two individual wins in the 200 back and 200 free. Mountain West Conference Male Swimmer of the Week Gary Tan also managed a first-place victory in the 100 back.

Freshman Chris Jorgenson was a pleasant surprise for the Cougars, storming ahead of the competition to win the 100 free by over 14 seconds.

Francis Tam led the Huskies with wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

The Cougars fell to 1-2 with the loss, while Washington improved to 5-2. BYU will get a chance for revenge against Washington Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the second of the back-to-back meets before heading home to Provo.
