Parents are Wendell and Lavon...served an LDS mission to Indiana...brothers Brian and Bruce preceeded him in football at BYU...Bruce plays for New England Patriots...younger brother, Travis, plays baseball for Utah...brother, Randy, played football at Utah...brother, Troy, played football at Dixie College...recruited by Utah and Air Force...married Robyn Cook in December 1987...majoring in business finance with a zoology minor.
Before BYU
High School - Prepped at American Fork High, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball...was all-state and two-time all-region...coached by Don Mower and Davis Knight.
Played with junior varsity.
Played on the second unit most of the year...started Air Force and Freedom Bowl games...known for aggressive special teams play...special teams player of the week vs. Wyoming...blocked a punt for a safety in that game...had 10 unassisted tackles and 17 assisted tackles on the year.
Had a stress fracture at the end of two-a-days but started at inside linebacker for the first half of the season...was bothered by a disc problem...has been cleared to compete for his senior year.
