Parents are Curley and Doris...recruited by Washington, Utah, Utah State and Weber State...has five older brothers...majoring in recreation administration.
Before BYU
A four-sport letterman in football, basketball, baseball and track at Ben Lomond High...was all-state, all-region and all-area in football...averaged 16 tackles per games as a junior before being slowed by injuries as a senior...was second-team all-region in basketball and baseball...coached by Ralph Johnson (Weber State).
Played for the junior varsity...suited up for varsity games.
Played on special teams and saw a lot of action at linebacker until injuries hit.
Was second unit on the varsity...got lots of playing time against Colorado State and Hawai'i.
Moved to defensive line but redshirted.
