- Caught nine passes for 121 yards and scored two touchdowns
- Started against San Diego State when Darren Handley and Travis McBeth were hurt
Junior Year
1989
- Moved into first-unit spot
- Caught five passes for 99 yards in spring game
- Started all 13 games...had a great 48-yard TD catch against Colorado State off a blitz
- First team All-America by The Sporting News, third team All-America by Associated Press, first team All-WAC by both the coaches and writers
- Featured in Sports Illustrated as one of the juniors who would be turning pro a year early

- Named a consensus All-America selection
- Caught 68 passes for 1,156 yards and two touchdowns - an NCAA record for yards by a tight end
- NCAA record stood until 2005
- Was 5th overall in the NCAA in receiving yards
- Had at least four receptions in every game but one as a senior

- Season-best 162 receiving yards against San Diego State
