Graduated from Peru High in 1986 and lettered three times in football and twice in basketball and baseball...state's third leading scorer his senior year...regional MVP...state north all-star...UPI All-Stater...honor student...on school math team.

BYU Hall of Fame

Freshman Year 1989

Had a kickoff return in the spring game...leading rusher for junior varsity...suffered a broken leg and hand injuries in an automobile pileup just before the Holiday Bowl.

Sophmore Year 1990

Second team Academic All-WAC...had an 18-yard kickoff return against Miami...rushed for 23 yards and had a 19-yard kickoff return at Air Force...had a 38-yard reception against Utah State...caught a TD pass from Joe Evans in the third quarter of the Holiday Bowl against Texas A&M...selected as coaches' special teams player of the game against Washington State.

Junior Year 1991

Ranked ninth nationally in punt return (13.45)...rushed for 45 yards, caught two passes and returned 20 punts and 12 kickoffs...had a TD reception against Utah State...longest kickoff return was 29 yards...had an 82-yard punt return against UTEP for a TD...was honorable mention All-WAC, Academic All-WAC and GTE Academic All-District 8 (CoSida)...selected WAC Special Teams Player of the Week against UTEP and Utah...named special teams player of the game by the coaches against Florida State, UCLA, Penn State and UTEP.

Senior Year 1992

Switched to strong safety in spring drills and emerged as a starter.
