Parents are LaVal and Joan...Eagle Scout...served a mission to New Jersey (1987-1989)...married Melisa Bateman February, 1992 and they have a daughter, Rachel...recruited by Utah, Utah State, Stanford, UCLA and USC...majoring in physical education.
Before BYU
Graduated from Timpview High in 1987...won three letters each in football, baseball and track...all-region and all-state two years...Gatorade Player of the Year...coached by Gary Walker.
Started at left tackle...caused a fumble at UCLA...had seven tackles at CSU...had eight tackles against Wyoming.
Had a pass deflection, two tackles, a hurry caused and recovered a fumble against Utah State.
Third year as a started...had three tackles vs. Ohio State...another strong game against USU with a fumble recovery...bench presses 470 pounds.
