Before BYU

Lettered twice in football and also in track at Lakewood High...was All-Moore League both as a wide receiver and defensive back...named athlete of the month in track...was all-league in the long (22-5) and triple jumps (47-6)...coached by Phil Dunaway.

All-Mission Conference at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif.,...honorable mention all-state...selected honorable mention pre-season All-American...was team's most valuable defensive player and most valuable defensive back...had six interceptions...scored three touchdowns on defense, one off an interception, one off a blocked kick and one off a fumble recovery...redshirted one season...coached by Frank Mazzotta.
