PROVO -- The BYU men’s and women’s cross country teams had six athletes named to the All-Region team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association after their performances at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Saturday.

Four members of the men’s team finished 25th place or better earning the award. Junior Miles Batty took second, sophomore Travis Fuller finished 11th, freshman Jared Ward in 15th and senior Nathan Ogden took 25th place. Kate Bowen and Katy Andrews represent the women’s selections for finishing 12th and 23rd overall.

Bowen had a 6K time of 20:50.7, with Andrews coming in at 21:17.7. With Bowen's performance, she earns an individual invitation to the NCAA Championships.

“I was hoping to do a little bit better, but I am still happy with how everything turned out,” Bowen said. “I am proud of our team and excited to represent BYU at nationals.”

Batty took finished 10K time of 29:30.1. The native of Sandy has led the Cougars in every competition this year and will look to continue his successful campaign at the NCAA Championships.

“A lot of guys on the team look to aspire to (Batty's) consistent of a performance,” men’s head coach Ed Eyestone said. “It’s going to be exciting to see him going into nationals.”

BYU will send the men’s team, along with Bowen qualifying individually, to the NCAA Championships on Monday, Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, IN.
