PROVO -- Sophomores Angela Goodson and Jamie Bloom of the BYU women's swim team head to NCAA Championships in Athens, Georgia this Tuesday. Goodson will be competing in the 200 IM, 100 fly and 200 back, whereas Bloom will be competing in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

"It's hard to say exactly how we'll do this week, however both of the girls look really good," said women's head coach Stan Crump. "Angela [Goodson] is in her third or fourth week of taper and she has a reasonable shot to qualify in the top 16 for finals."

"Jamie [Bloom] was not invited to NCAA's at first, but then she did get an invitation for the two breaststroke events," said Crump. "We didn't pull her yardage as much, but hopefully by Wednesday she'll be feeling good."

Last weekend, divers Angela Nelson and Ron Morris competed in the first round of the NCAA tournament, Zone Diving Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla.

"They both represented BYU really well," said diving coach Keith Russell. "Our only trouble was being inconsistent."

Morris finished 17th in the men's 3-meter finals with a score of 491.20, moving up a spot from his 18th place finish in prelims with a score of 239.90. Morris also finished 16th in the men's 1-meter finals with a score of 507.60, moving up two spots from his preliminary place of 18th with 235.55 points.

Nelson finished 21st in prelims for the women's 1-meter diving with a score of 218.75. She also finished 20th out of 42 divers in the 3-meter prelims with a score of 238.05.
