PROVO -- Though it was a record-breaking night for the Cougars, they lost to Utah 196.825-197.450. The Cougars team score was the highest of the season.

"They had spirit and fight in them tonight," said head coach Brad Cattermole. "I was pleased and they were competing like they wanted to win."

The Cougars started the night off right on vault, scoring a season high and a new BYU third-place record (49.450). The first three vaults were all career highs. Kacie Capra started the meet with a 9.700, followed by Dayna Smart's 9.875 and Alethea Boon's 9.900. Kirsten Pauga scored a season high (9.925) and Jaime Mabray tied her season high (9.925). Though it was a great show on vault, Utah came and took the lead with three 9.95s scored by Annabeth Eberle, Rachel Tidd, and Ashley Postell. Pauga and Mabray tied for fourth. Utah's team score of 49.60 was a season high.

Moving to bars, the Cougars had their third best night of the season (48.725). Genevieve Claveau tied her season high with 9.825. The rest of the gymnasts had strong performances. Kacie Capra tied Claveau for fourth place overall. Utah had a good night on beam with a career-high performance from Jessica Duke (9.825) and Nicolle Ford (9.925). The Utes, who are No. 4 of bars, beat the Cougars with an overall 49.375. Ford and Tidd tied for first with Claveau and Capra tying for fourth.

Once again BYU broke into the record books with a fourth-place BYU record score of 49.400 on beam that took down the No.1 Utah beam ranking (39.325). Dayna Smart had a stunning performance, which earned a 9.95 and tie for eighth in BYU beam records. Marie-Helene Claveau tied her season high with 9.925 and finished third. Utah's Ashley Postell took first with a 9.975, a season high. Mabray tied for fifth with 9.900.

On floor, the Cougars once again beat the Utes 49.250-49.150, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Utes lead. In a beautiful performance, Marie-Helene Claveau tied her career high and tied for first place with a 9.950. Her score also earned her a fifth-place BYU record. Mabray finished third with 9.900 and Capra finished fourth with 9.850. The Utes, who are ranked No. 6 on floor, had an average night with a high of 9.95 scored by Eberle. The next highest was a 9.85 by Kristen Riffanacht.

In the all-around, Utah's Rachel Tidd took first with 39.575. Mabray finished her career with a second-place score of 39.500, tied with Nicolle Ford. Claveau finished fifth with 39.300.

The meet concluded the regular season for the Cougars and Utes. BYU will next be in action at the NCAA Regionals on April 9th. The location will be announced next week.

PROVO -- For their last meet of the season, the No. 14 Cougars will face their biggest rival No. 1 Utah for the second time this season.

The last time BYU and Utah met was at the Huntsman Center in front of 14,100 fans. BYU lost the match 194.350-196.650. The Cougars are now 10-5 and the Utes are 11-2.

This meet will be the last for both teams before the postseason. This year the NCAA North Central Regionals will be hosted by Utah April 9th in the Huntsman Center.

In the rankings, senior Jaime Mabray is 25th in the all-around category. Not far behind is Marie-Helene Claveau at spot 35. On beam Dayna Smart is ranked 18th and Claveau is at No. 26. Claveau continues to be the best on vault with a No. 21 ranking.

As for the team, BYU holds its No. 10 ranking on vault, only three spots behind Utah's No. 7. BYU is 16th on beam and 25th on bars and floor.

The meet will be Saturday, March 26th, at 7p.m. in the Marriott Center. It will be broadcast on BYU-TV.
