PROVO, Utah – BYU offensive lineman Brady Christensen was added to the 2020 Outland Trophy Watch List this week, recognizing the best interior lineman in college football.

Christensen, a junior, has started all 33 games of his BYU career at left tackle. He was also 2019 preseason watch list honoree. With the addition, BYU now has three players on the Outland Trophy watch list, with center James Empey and defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga on the preseason list.

BYU is one of only four schools with at least three players on the list, joining Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

The Outland Trophy winner is chosen from three finalists who are a part of the annual FWAA All-America Team. BYU has two Outland Trophy winners, defensive lineman Jason Buck in 1986 and offensive lineman Mohammed Elewonibi in 1989.

Pro Football Focus currently ranks the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Christensen, as the No. 3 overall tackle, and the only one with a grade above 90.0 in both pass blocking and run blocking. Christensen was also named to the PFF team of the week in week four.

"He is as consistent of a player as I have been around," BYU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes said. "I have coached several guys who have been first-round picks and played in the NFL. He is as consistent, or more consistent than any of those guys."

Christensen plays a key role in BYU's offense currently ranked No. 6 in the FBS at 527.7 yards per game and No. 7 in scoring offense with 44.4 points per game.

The No. 9 Cougars travel to No. 21 Boise State for a Friday-night matchup of ranked teams at 7:45 p.m. MST on Fox Sports 1.
