Cougars finish third at Nuttycombe Invitational

WXC Aubrey Frentheway nears finish line and 2020-21 NCAA Championships

VERONA, Wis. — No. 3 BYU women's cross country finished third in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course on Friday morning.

"It’s always a good mid-season test to come to this meet," said women's cross country head coach Diljeet Taylor. "We had some really great things and some things we need to work on. We're looking forward to getting back to work to prepare for the championship part of the season."

The Cougars had three runners finish in the top-25: Aubrey Frentheway (20:22.2), Lexy Halladay (20:31.0) and McKenna Lee (20:34.7) who finished 7th, 13th and 23rd, respectively. BYU finished with 152 points, behind No. 3 New Mexico's 93 points and No. 1 NC State's 102.

In the B race, the Cougars finished 3rd with 56 points overall, led by a second-place finish from Haley Johnston (21:00.5). Madison Moffitt (21:32.2) also joined Johnston in top-10, finishing 10th.

They were followed by Julie Sumsion (21:56.4), Lizzie Dildine (21:59.4), Rachel Morrin (22:06.7), Sadie Sargent (22:12.5) and Carmen Alder (22:13.0) who finished 26th, 29th, 33rd, 39th and 40th, respectively.

Lee, Martin, Johnston, Moffitt, Sumsion and Dildine each set career best 6K times at the meet.
