BYU Women's Gymnastics Loses To Southern Utah In Dual Meet
CEDAR CITY -- Despite having the individual event winner in all four events, the BYU women's gymnastics team lost to Southern Utah 194.425 to 194.250 in a dual meet Tuesday in Cedar City, Utah.
Cougar sophomore Kelly Parkinson won the vault and tied for the win in the uneven bars and the floor exercise. BYU senior Denice Pauga won the beam with a score of 9.850.
Parkinson finished second in the all-around competition with a score of 38.900. Southern Utah's Caycee Overstreet finished the night with a score of 38.950. Pauga finished fourth with 38.750
The match with the Thunderbirds was the first match since Jan. 28 that the Cougars didn't score over 195. They scored a season high 195.800 Feb 4 against Utah.
BYU senior Leah Niepraschk continued her success on the uneven bars by scoring a 9.875 to tie with Parkinson for the event title.
The Cougars will travel to Corvallis, Ore., to participate in a meet hosted by Oregon St. Friday.
