Cougars Offer Great Showing in Colorado Invitational
BOULDER -- Both Lu Oswald and Elizaveta Khoudoiarova of the BYU women's tennis team were able to advance to the finals of their respective flights at the Colorado Invitational on Saturday, but both came up short of taking first.
Lu Oswald, who defeated the 100th ranked player, Tjasa Suvak of New Mexico 7-6, 2-6, 7-6, in the semifinals Friday, was unable to play in the finals of flight one due to inclement weather that disrupted play in Colorado all weekend.
Khoudoiarova was defeated by Morgan Sall of the University of Colorado 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 in the finals of flight three on Saturday.
Although the Cougars weren't able to complete all their matches on the weekend, head coach Craig Manning was glad for the experience the tournament provided for his team.
"It is always so tough this early in the season, with the weather and everything," Manning said. "We were just glad to be able to play some matches and get more and more experience."
The Cougars will have the next few weeks off to prepare for Regionals, which are to be played in Tulsa, Okla. from Oct. 23 through Oct. 27.
