Women's Tennis to Buck Heads with Broncos

PROVO -- Coming off a tough loss to No. 5 Notre Dame, the No. 39 BYU women’s tennis team will face No. 46 Boise State at home Wednesday. The Cougars are looking to improve on their 3-4 season record.

“I am hoping we play as well or better than we did against Notre Dame,” BYU coach Craig Manning said. “I’m just looking for that continual improvement.”

BSU has one doubles pair ranked at No. 54 and one singles player ranked at No. 104. The team owns a 6-2 record and is coming off a 5-2 win over Colora

do. When the two teams played last season, the Cougars came away with a 5-2 victory.

“Boise State is a good team this year,” Manning said. “We’re looking forward to another good, competitive match.”

In the fall season, freshman McCall Jones defeated Boise State’s Lauren Megale in straight sets to earn the BYU Invitational singles title. Chie Hayasaka also recorded a win over one of BSU’s players during the same tournament.

Wednesday’s match begins at 1 p.m. at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts. Admission is free, and the team will provide prizes for fans.
