Fisher receives Academic All-District honors
PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s track and field senior Rachel Fisher was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 First Team today by CoSIDA. Fisher, who competes in the pole vault, is majoring in biophysics and carries a 3.92 GPA.
A native of Allen, Texas, Fisher has enjoyed a senior season in which she has placed first in the pole vault at four indoor meets and three outdoor meets. She opened the indoor season with a vault of 3.95 meters (12-11.5) to win the Blue and Orange Opener at Boise State. Fisher followed the win at the Blue and Orange with a win in three of the next four meets in which she competed.
Fisher’s outdoor season began with a win at the Trojan Invitational at USC and she also claimed victories at the Sacramento State Mondo Mid-Major Challenge and the BYU Robison Invitational. Her top indoor vault came at the Armory Collegiate Invitational and measured 4.10 meters (13-5.25). Fisher's top outdoor vault came at the Robison Invitational and measured 4.01 meters (13-1.75).
This marks Fisher’s second Capitol One Academic All-District honor as she claimed the distinction in 2011. Fisher is also a three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honoree.
Firstâ€team Academic Allâ€District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic Allâ€America Team ballot, where firstâ€, second†and thirdâ€team Allâ€America honorees will be selected later this month.
