PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s volleyball team has signed two new recruits for the 2014 season – Danelle Parady and Malery Wahlin.

“We are excited about the addition of Danelle and Malery,” BYU head coach Shawn Olmstead said. “They are great volleyball players and outstanding women. They both have a lot of quality experience that will add tremendously to our team.”

Outside hitter Parady, a native of Riverton, Utah, is a four-year starter and team captain at Riverton High School.

She helped the Silverwolves finish the 2013 season with an 18-10 record and a third-place regional finish. In 2012, Parady helped Riverton High to a 20-11 record.

In 2012 she was named to the U. S. Junior National A2 volleyball team after her efforts on Club Utah, a private volleyball club.

Setter Wahlin, from Keller, Texas, joins the team from Keller High School.

She was named the 2013 District 4-5A Co-Setter of the Year for her performance as a setter in high school.

In addition to her efforts at Keller High, Wahlin participated as part of a private club--Tejas Volleyball--in 2007 and 2013. She also played for TAV Volleyball from 2008-12.

Parady and Wahlin will help replace three seniors lost from the 2013 squad, including starter Kathryn LeCheminant. Three additional players--Jaiden Achermann, Aspen Potter and Alohi Robins-Hardy--will join the team as freshmen for the 2014 season. The team will also gain senior All-American Jennifer Hamson, who decided to redshirt the 2013 season to focus on basketball.
