Four Cougars receive AVCA All-America honors

PROVO, Utah – Four BYU women's volleyball players have received American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I All-America honors, the organization announced Wednesday.

Junior outside hitter Veronica Jones-Perry was selected to the Third Team while senior middle blocker Cosy Burnett, sophomore outside hitter McKenna Miller and sophomore libero Mary Lake were named Honorable Mention.

Jones-Perry led the West Coast Conference this year in kills per set (4.82) and points per set (5.55) while also leading the team in aces per set (0.35). She was previously named to the All-WCC First Team and collected AVCA All-Pacific South Region First Team honors.

Burnett averaged 1.29 blocks per set while contributing offensively with 2.21 kills per set, hitting at a team-best .339 hitting percentage. She was previously named to the All-WCC First Team and the AVCA All-Pacific South Region Honorable Mention team.

Miller helped out the Cougar squad this year with 3.06 kills per set, second-best on the team. She also added 70 digs and 51 blocks on the year. Miller was previously named All-WCC Honorable Mention and AVCA All-Pacific South Region Honorable Mention.

Lake averaged 4.52 digs per set for the year, most on the team and in the WCC, while contributing 1.11 assists and 0.22 aces per set. She was also added to the AVCA All-Pacific South Region First Team, the All-WCC First Team and was named the WCC Defender of the Year.

This is the first All-America citation for Jones-Perry, Burnett and Lake. Miller was previously named to the Third Team a season ago.
