Before BYU

High School - 11 athletic letters in four sports ... all-state in basketball, member of the 440-relay team, pitcher and centerfield in baseball ... as a quarterback was all-state for the Cubs .. named prep player of the week in state ... coached by Roger Burt (BYU) .. 3.3 student.

BYU Hall of Fame

Freshman Year 1974

Tried as defensive back but switched and really connected as a flanker ... also recruited for basketball ... tried out for cage team, but dropped it in order to go to fiesta bowl ... as a sophomore, he was starter at flanker... caught 29 passes for 621 yards (team high), also had three TDs.

Sophmore Year 1975

Started ASU game  in place of an injured George Harris ... caught five passes for 60 yards ... scored a TD on a 66-yard play against Arizona ... total of four catches for 114 yards against UA ... scored first TD against Utah ... caught four passes for 73 yards.

Junior Year 1976

Tied WAC touchdown mark with four against CSU ... school record tied too ... this tied him for most points (24) in WAC record book ... based on the CSU performance, Ram Coach Sark Arslanian called him "a real winner" ... he caught a TD pass which narrowed the gap against Wyoming ... another TD came against Southern Miss., where he also caught a 67-yard bomb ... he was seven for 163 yard in that game ... caught a 20-yard TD in Utah State game and another score against New mexico ... will be remembered for a fake field goal which went for a TD via VanDerWouden against Arizona State ... was second in team scoring with nine TDs, 54 points ... hurt twice in second quarter against Utah ... shoulder separation resulted ... should be mended for fall season ... stats mark him for 42 catches for 669 yards.
