MALIBU, Calif. -- The No. 2 BYU men's volleyball team completed their regular season with a sweep (27-25, 26-24, 25-16) over the No. 13 Pepperdine Waves on the road Saturday.

Three Cougars finished in double-digit kills with junior Robb Stowell's 17 leading the way. Taylor Sander and Otavio Souza joined him with 13 and 10, respectively. Souza's .529 attacking percentage led all players and Sander's 10 digs, added to his 13 kills, made for his first career double-double.

Set one featured a fiesty back-and-forth battle with the Waves taking the lead at 17-14 before BYU tied it up at 19 and 20-all on their way to a 27-25 set victory while holding off two set points for the Waves.

The second set again went long with an eventual 26-24 score in BYU's favor. The Cougars took a quick 4-2 lead and continued from there, taking their largest set lead at 15-9 before the Waves fought back with a 4-0 run. With the set tied at 24, the Cougars took the victory with back-to-back kills from Souza and Stowell.

BYU took control of the third set with an 11-7 lead to start and an eventual 25-16 victory. The Waves fought back but were unable to catch the Cougars as they completed their 11th season sweep.

The 2011 MPSF tournament will begin April 23 and will be played at member institutions based on their standings in the conference.
