PHOENIX – Peter Kuest's four-under 67 tied for the best score in the final round of the Thunderbird Collegiate on Saturday at Papago Golf Course.

"Peter (Kuest) played a great round of golf today," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "As a team we struggled in all three rounds. It was a great field of teams this year and we just didn't put enough shots together."

Kuest posted the best tournament score for BYU and tied for 16th overall with a one-under. Rhett Rasmussen played the first two rounds under par and finished with a two-over. Carson Lundell, Kelton Hirsch and Brock Stanger finished with scores of six-over, 11-over and 16-over, respectively.

Playing as an individual, Austin Banz finished the tournament with a 13-over.

BYU (+17) finished 12th as a team after shooting rounds of 286, 291 and 292. West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's placed 10th with a score of 13-over. Utah finished in 14th with a 25-over. Arizona State ran away with the title after shooting 20-under as a team.

The Cougars play their home event, the Cougar Classic, beginning on April 19 at Riverside Country Club. The following week, BYU tees off at the WCC Championship.
