Lundell named to All-WCC Preseason Team, BYU picked to finish second

SAN MATEO, Calif. — BYU golfer Carson Lundell was selected to the All-WCC Preseason Team, while BYU was picked to finish second in the 2021-22 preseason coaches’ poll released today.

Lundell posted six top-10 finishes, five top-five and three first place finishes in route to being named a PING All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America, during the 2020-21 season.

Lundell enters his senior season coming off an appearance in the U.S. Amateur at Oakmont after shooting 14-under par in the local qualifier at Soldier Hollow in Heber City, Utah, to qualify.

BYU was picked to finished second to the defending NCAA and WCC Champion Pepperdine Waves who received eight first-place votes. NCAA Championship participants San Diego and San Francisco were picked to finish third with 46 point per team.

The All-WCC preseason team and preseason poll are voted on by the nine head coaches, who are not allowed to nominate their own student athletes for awards.

Five members of the All-WCC Preseason Team are returning PING All-Americans, including Carson Lundell, BYU (HM), Joe Highsmith, Pepperdine (HM), Dylan Menante, Pepperdine (3rd), William Mouw, Pepperdine (HM) and Joey Vrzich, Pepperdine (2nd).
