Blair Wins First Tournament of the Season
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –In a tournament that saw the majority of the Cougars struggle, Zac Blair stole the show with a 7-under finish to win the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Saturday.
After day one Blair led the field and finished strong with a 2-under in the final round to win his first tournament of the season. The win marks the second time in Blair’s career that he has won a tournament.
While Blair excelled, the rest of BYU struggled on the final day to find the cup. The last round saw the rest of the Cougars shoot a 16-over, dropping the team to sixth place.
Freshman Devon Purser and McCoy Willey showed promise, finishing 31st and 39th, the two next best places behind Blair. Freshman Patrick Fishburn also finished 31st while playing as an individual.
The Cougars will return to action on Oct. 10 when they host Cougar Day at Riverside Country Club.
