Men Lose At No. 6 Stanford

STANFORD -- In the first match of a three-match road trip to California, the BYU men's tennis team lost to No. 7 Stanford on Wednesday, 7-0.

The Cardinal extended their home winning streak to 63 matches as they overpowered the Cougars. BYU, now at 9-6 on the season and ranked No. 73 in the country, lost at every position to the talented Stanford team.

In singles, Carlos Lozano conitnued to play at the No. 1 spot but lost to third ranked player in the nation, Alex Kim, by the score of 6-4, 6-4. Gert Vilms, who was the Mountain West Conference player of the week last week, lost, 6-1, 6-3 to No. 19 K. J. Hippensteel.

In doubles, the Cougars lost at every spot, something they are not used to doing. At the No. 1 spot, Hippensteel and Kim barely defeated No. 23 ranked Lozano and Vilms. Stanford is now 10-1 on the season. BYU will travel to San Diego, to take on conference foe San Diego State on Friday.
