BYU Netters to appear on CBS Early Show

PROVO -- BYU doubles duo Thomas Shubert and Spencer Smith will make an appearance on the CBS "Early Show" Wednesday as part of a showcase of the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships.

Shubert and Salt Lake City native Smith, who won the Mountain Region doubles final in Provo Oct. 26, will be interviewed by 5-time Emmy Award winner and weather anchor Dave Price. The Cougars were two of 12 athletes chosen to participate in the show.

The show can be viewed from 8 to 9 a.m. MT on channel 2.

The duo was invited to the National Indoor Championships after defeating teammates Patrick Kawka and Evan Urbina 9-7 in the doubles final at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts. Only 15 other doubles teams were invited to play in the tournament.

The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in New York at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
