Stull takes third with career-best mark

LOS ANGELES -- BYU sophomore Joseph Stull threw a lifetime-best 174-04.00 and took third in the men’s hammer throw Friday night at the USC Trojan Invitational.

Stull’s mark of 174-04.00 was more than 12 feet better than his previous personal record. In fact, all six of Stull’s throws were better than his previous career best.

“Joe did some really nice things today, he just had a phenomenal day,” head coach Mark Robison said. “He didn’t throw very well last week, but he felt good today and threw better than we’ve even seen him throw in practices.”

Cougar freshman Jacob Foutz also competed in the hammer throw, finishing eighth overall with a mark of 150-08.00.

In the Javelin, junior Keith Keller took seventh place with a throw of 202-07.00. Kyle Baker also competed in the event, finishing in 11th place with a mark of 179-03.00.

The USC Trojan Invitational will resume Saturday morning at Loker Stadium.
