PROVO -- New Mexico’s premier track facility awaits the Cougars, who compete this Saturday in their third meet of the season at the Cherry and Silver Invitational in Albuquerque.

The one-day meet held at the state-of-the-art Mondo track in the Albuquerque Convention Center will be host to fifteen teams including BYU, Arizona, New Mexico, Houston, Northern Arizona, California, Stanford, UC Santa Cruz, New Mexico St., Santa Clara, Dine College, Adams State, Colorado Mines, Portland State and UTSA.

“I think this will be a great meet and opportunity for our team,” said BYU women’s head track coach Craig Poole. “New Mexico has one of the best facilities in the country, so we are looking to have some solid performances.”

Both the men’s and women’s teams have athletes competing in the sprinting, distance, throwing and jumping events. Also back in action for BYU are Mountain West Conference players of the week Leif Arrhenius and Amy Menlove, who will be competing for the second time this season in their respected events.

“This is going to be our first true test," said BYU men's head coach Mark Robison. "The meet is in a great facility and against great competition. We are looking forward to having some of our best marks. After this, everyone will have competed and we'll have a better idea of where we are as a team."

The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. MST with the women’s long jump and shot put and will conclude at 3:50 p.m. MST with the women’s 4x400m relay. RecordTiming.com will provide live results of the meet and golobos.com will post the final results.
