BYU Represented at USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

EUGENE, Ore.—Senior Miles Batty will compete in the 1500-meter run while senior Victor Weirich and sophomore Chris Little will both compete in the pole vault as representatives of the BYU men’s track team at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field this weekend.

The USA Championships give athletes a chance to earn spots to represent the United States at the IAAF World Championships, which take place Aug. 27-Sept. 4 in Daegu, South Korea.

Batty had a standout season in 2011 that ended with a seventh-place finish in the 1,500-meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, a run that earned him first-team All-America honors.

Little and Weirich also earned All-American recognition at the NCAA Championships, finishing in third and fourth place, respectively, in the pole vault.

Also participating in the meet is BYU alumnus Joshua McAdams. He will represent New Balance and compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase. 

Batty and McAdams will compete Thursday night in the semifinals for their respective events, with the finals being held Saturday afternoon. Little and Weirich forgo a semifinal round and will compete in the finals Saturday afternoon.
