Langlois named MPSF Player of the Week
PROVO, Utah – Senior outside hitter Jake Langlois was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/Molten Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Langlois was instrumental over the weekend in No. 3 BYU’s two-match sweep of No. 4 Hawai'i. On Friday, he posted 13 kills on a .450 clip while adding five digs (one shy of the match high), three blocks and two aces. In the series finale on Saturday, Langlois collected a team-high 12 kills while adding six blocks (second-most in the match).
On the week, he contributed an impressive all-around effort of 5.50 points per set, 4.17 kills per set, 1.50 blocks per set, 1.17 digs per set and 0.50 aces per set.
The wins keep BYU on pace for first place in the conference, currently standing a half match behind No. 1 Long Beach State, who it plays this weekend.
This is Langlois' first MPSF honor of the season and second of his career. This is BYU's second league honor of the season as Ben Patch won the award on Feb. 6.
The Cougars play host to Princeton Tuesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. MDT, before the homestand against the 49ers on Friday and Saturday.
