Cougars Complete Sweep in Hawaii
HONOLULU, Hawaii - The No. 4 BYU men's volleyball team has now won six-straight matches after its most recent came on Saturday at No. 11 Hawaii in a three-match victory (25-14, 29-27, 25-17).
BYU's Futi Tavana and Taylor Sander led all players with seven blocks and 18 kills, respectively. Sander also added four aces and two blocks.
Behind a monstrous 10-0 run, the Cougars cruised to a 25-14 victory in the first set to set the mood for the match. Sander had four aces in that stretch and Stowell had three kills.
The Warriors fought back in set two, taking the score to extra frames, but BYU eventually took the 29-27 win behind three-straight points off kills from Sander and Robb Stowell.
Hawaii took an early 3-0 lead in the third set but, after four-straight BYU points, wouldn't lead again. The Cougars took a 14-10 lead on a kill from Tavana on their way to an eventual 25-17 set victory and sweep.
The Cougars will be back in action next weekend on the road against Long Beach State.
