BYU ends first day in 8th at Mountain View

TUCSON, Arizona – Led by top-10 performances by Alexandra White and Kendra Dalton, BYU women's golf is in eighth place after the first day at the Mountain View Collegiate on Friday.

"We had our season-best score in the morning and followed it up with a 294, so overall it was a good team performance," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "We want to do a little bit better tomorrow, but we played solid. The whole morning round was just great."

Out of the 20 teams in the tournament, the Cougars are in eight place (+5), shooting a season-best 287 in the first round. FIU is in first place (-6), while Ohio State and Texas State are tied for second place, just one stroke behind the top spot.

White and Dalton are in a tie for ninth place, shooting two-under-par. They both shot a team-low 70, White in the first round and Dalton in the second. 

Lea Garner shot three-over-par to land her in a tie for 40th place. Not far behind was Brooklyn Anderson Hocker in a tie for 56th, shooting six-over-par. 

Shooting 12-over-par, Carly Oldroyd is tied for 89th after the first round of competition.
