BYU in fourth after first day of WCC Championships
SATICOY, Calif. – Alexandra White led BYU women's golf to fourth place after the first round of the West Coast Conference Championships on Monday.
“I thought that we started off very well, but we can definitely do better," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "It was a very challenging golf course. We just need to minimize our mistakes and move up tomorrow. Lea (Garner) showed a lot of mental toughness on the back nine, which was nice to see."
BYU is in fourth place, shooting 36-over-par after the first 18 holes. Pepperdine leads the five WCC teams on the first day, holding on to first place after shooting 23-over-par. The Waves’ Marissa Chow is in first place individually after shooting 74 in the first round.
Continuing her hot streak after winning WCC Women’s Golf Player of the Month, White leads the Cougars in the first round, shooting six-over-par and finishing the day in a tie for fifth place.
