Lettered twice in baseball and three times in football at Capistrano Valley High ... was on the Angels' Area Code team ... was all-league in football ... played on the American Legion state championship baseball team ... recruited by Stanford, USC, Tulane, San Francisco State, and Cal-State Fullerton ... coached by Bob Zamora (Chapman College).

Was ready to pitch by mid-season after surgery ... made appearances against Southern Utah in three different games and against Air Force, New Mexico and at UNLV ... in one game against SUU he struck out three in three innings ... he started four innings against SUU in Provo, but the decision went to reliever Jake Chrisman.
