Prepped at Pendleton High where he was a three-time scholar-athlete ... was all-league and league MVP ... batted .488 as a senior ... first-team all-state ... team captain who lettered three years in football, basketball and baseball ...was all-state and two-time first-team all-conference in football and had over 5,000 yards passing and 53 TDs as a quarterback ...was league MVP as a quarterback and one of USA Today's Oregon Top 12 Football Players ... coached by Lyle Phelps and Steve Cary.
