Before BYU

Prepped at West Jordan High where he was coached by Brock Knight ... was selected athlete of the year in 2002 ... was second team all-state in 2001 and 2002 ... lettered three times in baseball and twice in basketball ... baseball team placed second in state for 2001, the same year he played on the state championship basketball team ... his basketball team was runner-up in 2002 for Utah ... played for the 2001 American Legion State Champions.

Other College

Played at the College of Southern Idaho where he was coached by Jim "Skip" Walker ... was second team all-region ... lettered twice ... made the Dean's list four times ... registered a 6-8 record with a 3.19 ERA in 2004.
