LOS ANGELES – No. 25 BYU baseball hit a pair of big home runs to propel the Cougars to a 10-3 win against LMU on Saturday at Page Stadium.

"We had great energy as a team today," BYU head coach Mike Littlewood said. "We've had different guys step up all year and today it was Keaton Kringlen, Carson Matthews and Ryan Sepede. Blake Inouye came up huge today and all weekend for us as well."

The scoring opened in the fourth inning for BYU (31-12, 15-6) in a big way as the Cougars put five runs on the board. Jackson Cluff singled, then came home on a triple by Keaton Kringlen. Ryan Sepede hit an RBI-single, Danny Gelalich singled, and then Carson Matthews cashed in, taking a 1-0 pitch up and over the 37-foot-high wall in left field, a three-run shot.

LMU (27-20, 14-10) responded with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, but BYU gained two back in the fifth. Kringlen again came through at the plate, this time hitting a two-run shot to left to push the lead to 7-3.

Starter Justin Sterner gave up just one hit for the Cougars, but it was worth three runs. Blake Inouye, Drew Zimmerman and Mitch McIntyre combined to allow just three hits the rest of the way. Inouye earned his first win of the year, collecting five strikeouts in just three innings.

BYU added a few insurance runs late in the game, including an infield single by Brock Hale that scored Gelalich. In the ninth inning, Noah Hill hit his first-career triple and Hale walked, setting up a two-RBI double by Cluff to round out the scoring.

BYU will next play a non-conference game at San Diego State, facing the Aztecs at 6 p.m. PT on BYU Radio and ESPN 960 AM.
