EUGENE, Ore. – BYU men’s tennis was swept by Oregon in the second match of a two-match series at the UO Student Tennis Center Saturday, falling to 2-2 on the season.

"I'm very disappointed with the outcome, both in terms of the loss and in terms of the score," said BYU head coach Dave Porter. "There's some things that we did well, but there’s a lot of things that we need to work on, and one of them is playing big points well. We won a very low percentage of deuce points, and with no-ad scoring, that's sort of the key, is stepping up when it matters, and we've got to work on that. We've got to do a better job of preparing and we've got a long week of work to be ready for New Mexico next Friday."

The Ducks came to play, quickly earning the doubles point with 6-3, 6-2 victories and No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. Mateo Vereau Melendez and Matheus Ferreira Leite held a lead over Joshua Charlton and Brandon Lam at No. 1 doubles, but fell in the tiebreaker, losing 7-6 (6).

Oregon then made their way through singles play, winning every singles match without dropping more than five games in a set on their way to a 7-0 sweep.

The Cougars will be back in action next week, hosting New Mexico at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts on Friday, Feb. 5, at 3 p.m. MST. Attendance is still limited to family members, but the match can be watched via live stream, and live stats will also be available.
