PROVO -- BYU won 3-0 in an exhibition game against Utah Valley State Saturday.
The athletes took the field with enthusiasm and kept the excitement level up for the more than 850 fans that were in attendance. There were a total of 12 shots on goal for the Cougars during the first half, including two goals by Nicole Anderson and Annie Zwahlen. The Wolverines had one shot on goal during the first half.
The second half saw more excitement from the Wolverines with several intense moments and five shots on goal. A goal by the Cougars' Brooke Bowman with less than two minutes in the game increased the gap and sealed the victory for BYU.
BYU coach Jennifer Rockwood said she saw some very good things coming from the girls during the game.
"We set some goals and we attained almost all of those," Rockwood said. "We knew UVSC would come out with intensity and our goal was to match that."
There will be another exhibition game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Dixie State. The first regular-season home game of the season will be Sept. 2 against Weber State.
