FORT WORTH -- With a 1-0 conference victory over the home-standing TCU Horned Frogs, the No. 8 BYU women's soccer team improves to 12-1-1 this season and an undefeated 3-0 in league play.

Sophomore Carlee Payne led the Cougars to victory with her fourth goal of the season in the 19th minute off an assist from teammate Stacy Bartholomew.

"The girls had a great game tonight with an excellent goal from Carlee," said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "Jennie Marshall also played a fantastic game for us, creating many attacking situations. This is a big win for us on the road in conference and I'm very proud of how the girls played. Every conference game is a big game."

Both Marshall and Jessica Ringwood led BYU with three shots apiece while tallying a combined 170 minutes of playing time.

TCU came out in the second half seeking the equalizer but were unable to find the back of the net despite taking 10 shots.

"This is a big win for us in a tough place to play," Rockwood said. "TCU is a great team with a good attack, and they were playing to win tonight."

The win gives Cougar goalie McKinzie Olson her sixth shutout victory of the season with 90 minutes in front of the goal.

The Cougars will continue their road trip with a game in New Mexico against the Lobos this Saturday at 5 p.m.

PROVO -- After moving back into the Nation's Top 10, the No. 8 BYU women's soccer team will take its game on the road with match-ups this week on Thursday and Saturday against TCU and New Mexico, respectively.

The Cougars are traveling with an 11-1-1 overall record this season and an undefeated 2-0 conference record thus far. They’re most recently coming off a 2-1 victory over the Air Force Falcons.

The 2010 Cougar squad, and defending 2009 regular season champions, were picked in this year's preseason coaches poll to again finish first in the regular season.

Junior Jennie Marshall leads the Cougar offense with seven goals and senior teammate Kassidy Shumway follows closely with six of her own. Shumway leads the team with 17 total points in 13 games.

Nine different players have recorded at least one goal for the Cougars this season for a total goal count of 31. When last year’s squad was ready to play its third conference game of the season, its total goal count was 21.

TCU will host the Cougars with a 7-6-1, 1-1-0 record and are on a two-game winning streak after victories over UNLV and Houston Baptist. Jordan Calhoun leads the Horned Frogs with six goals and 15 points this season.

New Mexico is currently 8-1-3 overall and also an undefeated 2-0 in conference play. Jennifer Williams leads the Lobos’ offense with seven goals and 18 points this season after 12 games.

BYU’s all-time road record is 121-50-18. They also hold an all-time 14-2-3 record against New Mexico and an 8-0-0 all-time record against TCU.

The next home game for the Cougars is on Thursday, Oct. 21, against UNLV at 7 p.m.
