Cluff Earns Weekly Honors

PROVO, Utah - BYU sophomore shortstop Jackson Cluff has been named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week and the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.

Cluff is the first Cougar to win national player of the week honors twice in the same season and joins former BYU pitcher Kolton Mahoney as the only Cougar to earn national weekly honors twice in a career. This is also the third WCC honor for Cluff this season.

In four games last week, Cluff had nine hits, batting .562 with a 1.062 slugging percentage. Five of the hits were doubles and one a home run. The sophomore added nine RBIs, seven runs, four walks, two stolen bases and a hit by pitch. 

In game three at home Saturday against San Francisco, Cluff went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a three-run homer, finishing with six RBIs, four runs, a walk and a stolen base to help BYU win 17-9 and clinch a bid to the WCC Tournament next week. 

Cluff leads BYU on the year with a .346 average, 62 hits, 53 runs, 56 RBIs, 19 doubles and 12 stolen bases.
