PROVO, Utah (Nov. 17, 2021) – BYU head coach Mike Littlewood today announced the Cougars' 2022 baseball schedule that includes 24 games at Miller Park, 24 road contests and four neutral-site games.

The 52-game schedule features contests with five Power Five programs and 27 games in West Coast Conference play. The home schedule includes a three-game set with Oklahoma State, while the road slate has a series at Arizona State and Nebraska as well as an early season showcase that features Ohio State.

“The No. 1 objective as we put together our non-conference schedule each year is to challenge our team so we are ready for conference play,” said Littlewood. “This year is no different. We are excited to face Big Ten powers Ohio State and Nebraska as well as perennial national powerhouse Arizona State on the road, and then have the opportunity to host one of the best teams in the country when Oklahoma State comes to Provo.”

BYU begins the season February 18-21 at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida, in a four-game series that includes Ohio State and Indiana State of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Cougars then travel to Tempe, Arizona, to take on ASU of the Pac-12 on Feb. 24-26 in a three-game slate. In its last meeting with ASU in 2021, BYU defeated the Sun Devils 8-5 in a midweek game in Provo on April 27.

The Cougars open their 2022 home schedule with back-to-back series at Miller Park on March 3-5 against Milwaukee Wisconsin and March 10-12 versus Big 12 powerhouse Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are one of collegiate baseball’s storied programs having made 20 appearances in the College World Series, good for sixth all-time.

Following a Tuesday, March 15 game with rival Utah of the Pac-12 in Salt Lake City, the Cougars open conference play on the road at Portland on March 17-19.

In WCC play, BYU will host Gonzaga (March 24-26), Santa Clara (April 7-9), San Diego (April 21-23), Pacific (May 12-14) and LMU (May 19-21), while playing road games at Portland, St. Mary’s (March 31-April 2), San Francisco (April 28-30) and Pepperdine (May 5-7).

The Cougars take a break in the middle of WCC play to travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, to play a four-game set, April 14-16, with the Cornhuskers who are the reigning Big Ten champions and finished 2021 ranked No. 19 in the USA Today poll.

Midweek games for the 2022 season include three contests with Utah (March 15, April 19 and May 17), two games versus Dixie State (April 5 and May 10) and UVU (March 22 and April 26), and one on the road at Fullerton on May 3.

“The midseason trip to Nebraska, a home-and-home set with each of the in-state opponents, and a midweek game versus four-time national champion Fullerton rounds out an incredible 2022 schedule,” said Littlewood.

The WCC Tournament is set scheduled for May 26-28, with the NCAA Tournament set to begin the first week of June.

The Cougars return a solid core of young talent for 2022 that includes Collegiate Baseball News Freshman All-American Andrew Pintar. The sophomore infielder was named the WCC 2021 Co-Freshman of the Year and was also selected All-WCC First Team.

Senior centerfielder Mitch McIntyre and sophomore right fielder Cole Gambill were named to the WCC second team, while returning right-handed pitchers Reid McLaughlin and Carter Smith were named honorable mention.
