STANFORD, California – Another top-20 performance from Jordan Rodgers led BYU men’s golf to a tie for 14th place after the first round of The Goodwin on Thursday.

“It was a good start for us,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “Last week, the 73s we shot were mediocre, but this week that is respectable because the golf course is so much more demanding. Hopefully we can come out tomorrow and play even better.”

The Cougars finished in a tie 14th place with fellow West Coast Conference team Loyola Marymount. TCU is in first place at 16-under-par. Other WCC teams Saint Mary’s, San Francisco and Santa Clara are in a tie for 6th, tie for 10th and tie for 12th, respectively.

Rodgers led BYU in the first round, shooting three-under-par and ending the day in a tie for 11th. His 67 in a round is his season-low. His career-low is 66.

Just outside of the top 20 is junior Tommy Higham in a tie for 26th. He shot one-under-par, a 69 for the round. This is his second time shooting 69, just two shy of his career-high 67. He made two birdies in his last three holes.

Both Zach Pritchard and Cole Ogden finished day one in a tie for 78th, shooting three-over-par. CJ Lee rounded out the team tied for 125th. He shot 10-over-par.

The second round will begin at 1:10 p.m. PDT on Friday for the Cougars. Live stats will be available on the BYU men’s golf schedule page.
