Day 1 Recap

STANFORD, California – Behind Jordan Rodgers' top-10 finish, BYU men’s golf moved up three places to 11th on Friday at The Goodwin.

“The team seems to be hanging in there with decent scores," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "Rodgers had another steady round. He is playing really good golf right now. We need to get more consistent play heading into the last day and for our upcoming tournaments. It would be nice to shoot par or even better tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how our guys play."

The Cougars are in 11th (+6), four strokes behind West Coast Conference member Saint Mary’s (+2). UAB is in first place after the second day at 19-under-par. Other WCC teams Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount and San Francisco are in 8th, a tie for 12th, 16th and a tie for 18th, respectively.

Rodgers cracked the top 10 in the second round at a tie for seventh. He is shooting five-under-par. In this tournament, he has yet to shoot a score over 70.

Holding steady on the second day, junior Tommy Higham remained tied for 26th (E). Freshman Zach Pritchard shot five-over-par and moved up eight places to a tie for 69th.
