Day 1 Recap

SATICOY, Calif. – BYU men’s golf dropped three spots to sixth place after the second round of the West Coast Conference Championships on Tuesday.

“We had a rough start on the first few holes that put us back from the start,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “But the guys came back and played the back nine pretty well. It would be great to come out and put together our best round tomorrow. You never know what can happen when you have a great round.”

Despite having a lower overall score on the second day, the Cougars fell to sixth place (+34), four strokes behind Saint Mary’s. There was a lot of movement on the leaderboard as Pacific overtook San Francisco for the top spot.

The two freshmen led BYU in the second round. CJ Lee is tied for 10th place, shooting seven-over-par. Zach Pritchard is shooting eight-over-par to put himself in a tie for 13th.

Shooting nine-over-par, Cole Ogden dropped to a sole possession of 21st place. Jordan Rodgers moved up three places after the second day to a tie for 24th, shooting 11-over-par.

Tommy Higham fell to a tie for 33rd despite shooting a lower second round score than his first round score, 78 and 80, respectively. He is shooting 14-over-par.

The final round of the WCC Championships will be played on Wednesday. Live stats will be available on the BYU men’s golf schedule page.
