Baton Rouge, La. - The No. 6 BYU women's soccer team beat the No. 25 LSU Tigers 4-2 on Monday night.

Four different players scored for BYU (3-0-0) as the Cougars outshot the Tigers 28-7, but didn't hold a lead until the 68th minute.

Senior midfielder Rachel Manning scored her third goal of the season in the 68th minute. A Colette Jepson Smith cross found Elena Medeiros who passed to Manning for a shot that hit off the left post and in. The goal gave BYU its first lead and proved to be the gamewinner as the defense held up for the final 22 minutes.

In the 82nd minute, defender Paige Hunt added an insurance goal on a counter attack off a cross from Sarah Chambers into the box.

Despite a 17-3 shot advantage in the first half, the two teams were tied 2-2 after 45 minutes of action. LSU (2-1-1) made their shots count, scoring two goals off only three shots.

Fernanda Pina scored for the home side in the 21st minute to make it 1-0. Summer Clarke later put LSU back on top in the 32nd minute 2-1.

BYU found the net to tie the game twice in the first half. Colette Jepson Smith scored her first goal of the season from a rebound off a shot by Michele Murphy. Ashley Hatch equalized the game again in the 34th minute after intercepting a failed clearance and putting the ball in the net for the equalizer.

The Cougars will return to action at home on Friday, Sep. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Deseret Duel against the University of Utah.
