Soccer spring schedule continues for undefeated Cougars
PROVO, Utah – So far this spring, BYU women’s soccer has gone 5-0 in exhibition matches outscoring opponents 23-1. The Cougars have one remaining road game before returning to South Field to finish off the spring season.
BYU travels to Los Angeles to take on the Bruins on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. PDT. It will be the second game of the spring for UCLA after they beat Cal State Fullerton 4-2 on March 15. The Bruins are two-time defending Pac-12 champions and won the national title in 2013.
The Cougars return home to host Southern Utah at 11 a.m. and Utah at 5 p.m. on South Field Saturday, April 11. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
After beating Dixie and Westminster in the Indoor Practice Facility on Feb. 28, BYU has won three games on the road beating UNLV 5-0 in Las Vegas, Arizona State 2-0 in Tempe, Arizona, and also beating New Mexico 6-1 in Tempe.
In the 5-0 win over UNLV, Michele Murphy scored two goals, Elena Medeiros, Marissa Nimmer and Nadia Gomes scored one each. Stephanie Ringwood assisted on two of the goals, while Ashley Hatch, Nimmer, Taylor Campbell Isom, Gomes, Bizzy Phillips, Murphy and Medeiros also had assists.
Against New Mexico, Gomes scored a hat trick, Medeiros scored two and Hatch added another goal for the final 6-1 margin. Murphy had two assists, while Hatch, Madie Lyons, Gomes, Camille Green and Nimmer each had assists as well.
Against Arizona State, Hatch and Murphy scored goals in the 2-0 victory as Nimmer and Medeiros assisted on the two goals.
