Soccer has 13 WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll honorees

PROVO, Utah – Thirteen BYU women's soccer players were named to the West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their academic success in the 2014-15 academic year.

This past season was the fourth in the WCC and 2014 seniors Annie Amos and Jaiden Thornock were the first soccer players to earn a spot on the honor roll for the fourth time in their career. This year's two seniors Sarah Chambers and Marissa Nimmer were named to the honor roll for the third time in their career, while juniors Miranda Bailey, Michele Murphy, Ashley Hatch and Elena Medeiros made the honor roll for the second consecutive year.

The WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll is split into gold, silver and bronze honors, but all student-athletes must have also lettered in their sport. Gold honors go to student-athletes with GPAs above 3.75. Chambers and Bizzy Phillips each earned gold honors. Silver honors go to student-athletes with GPAs of 3.50 - 3.75. Bailey, Medeiros and freshmen Stephanie Ringwood and Carla Swensen earned silver honors. Bronze honors go to student-athletes with GPAs above 3.0. Amos, Thornock, Hatch, Murphy, Nimmer, Taylor Campbell Isom and Katherine Snyder earned bronze honors.

The 13 players who earned a spot on the honor roll are the most for the soccer program since the 2011-12 academic year. Chambers and Hatch were named to last year's WCC All-Academic Team, while Medeiros, Amos and Murphy were WCC All-Academic honorable mentions. Amos was a 2014 NSCAA Scholar All-America Second Team selection, while Chambers was an NSCAA Scholar All-West Region selection as well a Capital One Academic All-District First Team in 2014.

The Cougars begin the fall schedule with the Blue/White scrimmage on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. on South Field.
