Oregon State visits No. 8 BYU
BYU vs. Oregon State Game Notes
PROVO, Utah – No. 8 BYU women’s soccer closes out its non conference home schedule with the sixth Pac-12 opponent of the fall on Thursday.
The Cougars (6-1-0) host Oregon State (4-0-2) on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. on South Field. The game will be broadcast on BYUtv, as well as the Cougar IMG Sports Network and ESPN 960 AM.
So far this season, BYU has played five Pac-12 opponents and have gone 4-1-0 beating Cal, Colorado, Utah and Arizona in an exhibition to start the season. The only loss came at then-No. 2 Stanford.
The Cougars are led by four players who have each scored two goals. Nadia Gomes, Ashley Hatch, Elena Medeiros and Michele Murphy Vasconcelos all have scored two goals. Out of BYU’s seven games, the Cougars have shut out six opponents.
BYU outshot its opponents 82-29 last week. In its previous two games, the Cougars attempted more shots than Oregon State has this season (73-66).
Oregon State has yet to lose this season after finishing winless last year. The Beavers are led by sophomore goalkeeper Bella Geist who led the Pac-12 in saves last year and has already matched her shutouts from 2014 with three.
